What could be the cause of my itchy eyes?

My eyes arent red or swollen, they just itch. Especially around the skin where my eye lashes grow. I bought a new mascara about a month ago and ive been wondering if Im just having an allergic reaction to it. I also wear contacts and have for a while. I havent changed anything with my contacts so its been hard for me to decide if it is just an allergic reaction or my contacts or an infection.
