How do you properly apply eyeliner to deep-set eyes?

I have deep set eyes and would like to wear black eyeliner and mascara ONLY on them (and blush on my cheeks) but I don`t know how eyeliner should look on my eyes and if I am putting in on right. How should I put on eyeliner and how should it look if I`ve done so correctly.
