Acceptance of biological hardwired attraction of females to want the best male providers?

In general most societies seem to accept the scientific explanation of attraction between the genders. It seems females are hardwired to be attracted to the males who are the strongest and best providers. If this is the case, why are some groups of women who manifest this hardwired biological behavior often labeled "gold diggers"? One would think that poor women would be accused of this, but it seems that it runs more along the color line than economics...at least in the U.S. If a white woman wants a good provider, she is a woman who is thinking intelligently in the selection of her mate. If a black woman wants the same thing, she is a gold digger. Go figure!
