VD: Did they say if it matters if the vampire gets bit when the werewolf is a human or a wolf?

Okay last episode Damon got bit by Tyler right. So does it matter if he was bit in the human for of Tyler or wolf form of Tyler? I thought they said that a wolf bite is only lethal when the werewolf is in wolf form. But I don't know. Can anyone help please? I really need to know, I don't want my Damon to die over a freaking wolf bite. He's suppose to die very poetic. Like dying for Elena not Caroline.
