I flew a Navy A-4E to near its' top end speed and it buffets violently. I was flying tail-chase as the wing man and as such was not looking at anything but the underside of my leader's plane. At first I thought he has taken us into a severe stall. I took a quick peek at the airspeed indicator and we were at .92M. The lead eased he nose up and we began to slow down and the buffeting stopped. We did not shed any parts, but I could see how a civilian plane would unravel at the same speed. That was the first and last time I ever did that!
